Memorial Gift
Often, after the passing of a loved one, family members or friends look for special ways through which they can honour their memory. One way to do this is by arranging for family and friends to donate to ICEE in the form of a Memorial Gift.
The International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to giving sight to the 300 million people worldwide who are suffering from avoidable blindness and vision impairment due to uncorrected refractive error – correctable with an eye examination and a pair of glasses.
A Memorial Gift to ICEE is a thoughtful way to remember someone, while at the same time helping to give sight and improve the quality of life of others. Any money donated to ICEE in this way is recorded as a gift in memory of the deceased. Often, the family may ask that money normally spent on flowers for the funeral can instead be directed to a charity. Donations in addition to this are welcomed and will also be recorded as a memorial gift.
A Treasured Memory: Names of those who have been remembered in this way are recorded in our Book of Remembrance, which is maintained in perpetuity at ICEE.
Letter Expressing Condolences and Appreciation: The next of kin/nearest family member is sent a letter expressing condolences and special thanks to the names of all who kindly make memorial gifts (the amount given by each individual is not disclosed).
Receipt: Everyone who makes a memorial gift receives a letter of thanks and receipt, which if required can be used for tax purposes.
To make a Memorial Gift
If you would like to make a Memorial Gift in honour of a loved one please call us on 02 9385 7468, email us at icee@icee.org or download and complete our Memorial Gift form.
Alternatively, when making arrangements with the Funeral Director in preparation for a funeral, you can discuss your wishes for Memorial Gifts. The Funeral Director can contact ICEE on (02) 9385 7468 for a supply of ICEE Memorial Gift envelopes and arrange for them to be distributed at the service. Many families also like to mention these arrangements in the Funeral Notice placed in the newspaper so that those wishing to make a gift in lieu of flowers can do so.
